The minute I discovered that this tiny game had an app released for it, I was instantly sucked in. At the time, I had not yet played the physical version but was very intrigued at how this short two-player card game could possibly be in the Top 100 on BoardGameGeek. Of the digital implementation of board games I have reviewed so far, this one has by far the highest production values. There are multiple play options - solo, pass-and-play, online, and campaign. That's right - a campaign for this simple game!
As with any good digital board game, there is a tutorial to teach newcomers how to play. During the actual games, there will be a helper that you can toggle for hints or to let you know your opponent's last move. The actual game play is very intuitive and easy to understand. All the basic game modes work well. In the solo mode, you have the choice between four difficulty levels and whether the game will be the first to win one round, two rounds, or three rounds. For pass-and-play, players are put straight into the game. Finally, online play requires an Asmodee account.
The aforementioned campaign is probably the most interesting part. In it, you'll be traveling through different regions to compete against other traders. Rules in each game will be twisted in small ways, such as altering the values of good that are traded or changing the number of rounds. Once a game has been completed, you are awarded camels, rupees, and palace points. Camels are needed to travel to regions that are far away from your start region. Rupees are needed to actually unlock those regions. These two are important for progress in the campaign, but the palace points are not and are just used to unlock decorative items to build a 2-D palace that serves zero purpose.
All game modes are great, even if the palace points are useless. The campaign adds solid solo replayability in terms of objectives and varying the game rules. Visually, there is a lot of color and the game really pops, as can bee seen in the included screenshots. I don't really have any complaints and can solidly recommend this app for everyone.
